Grandma Miriam's Banana Cake

  • 2 cups cake flour (sift)
  • 1 tsp baking powder (sift)
  • 1 tsp baking soda (sift)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (sift)
  • 1/2 cups butter (cream)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar (cream)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup mashed banana
  • 3/4 cups sour milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Method

  1. Sift together 2 cups cake flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1/2 tsp salt.
  2. Cream 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar.
  3. Add 1 egg and 1 cup mashed banana.
  4. Add 3/4 cup sour milk and 1 tsp vanilla. Alternately add the sifted dry ingredients and the sour milk mixture into the creamed batter, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into a greased and floured pan. Bake at 375°F for approximately 20 minutes.
